Nancy’s Story

Hearts & Hands VolunteerNancy’s Story

For the second year in a row, the Hearts and Hands Clinic has been awarded funding from the Coastal Georgia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. These funds are being used to provide critical mammography services through the “Hearts & Hands for Mammograms” program.

Because research proves that African American women are diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer more often than most other demographic groups, Hearts & Hands is striving to overcome all of the barriers that prevent our local women from receiving annual screenings. Hearts and Hands has appointed Nancy Martin, a community volunteer, to be our Mammogram Coordinator.

Among Nancy’s many contributions, her main responsibility is to coordinate all of our Komen mammogram appointments between patients and our three mammogram facility partners, Statesboro Imaging, East Georgia Regional Medical Center, and Candler County Hospital.
